Such patriotism as they possess is purely ideological, in that they love a country only insofar as it exemplifies and advances their principles. That some inhabitants of those administrative units might have some human affection for it as a distinctive "country" is proof of their need for further ideological training, and for more immigration so as to sunder the retrograde links between place, ethnicity, and culture.
